Broken to Beautiful: "Destined to be a Modern Classic"

(1888PressRelease) March 29, 2010 - Virginia Beach, VA - Where does a wound come from, that can turn a child of promise into a young woman susceptible to the poison kind of love? And what will it take to bring about the kind of healing that can save her life and put an end to a global epidemic of brokenness?

In Broken to Beautiful (published by Morgan James), author Sheila Summers takes readers on a journey of discovery during a Thanksgiving week visit to the restored country cottage of a wise woman know to most as Shy. There she will share a story of a lifetime about a little girl from her native Scotland named Kieran, who would learn the hard way that 'Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me'… is a Great Big Lie!

From the magnificent capital city of Edinburgh, to the breathtaking Highlands of Scotland, leading eventually to an immigrant's journey to America, author Sheila Summers has created a story within a story. A parable, filled with amazing characters, incredible settings and rare insight into the reality of how important a father's love and encouragement can be to the life choices of a child. With Shy as our guide, we discover Kieran's longing to know who and what she could believe in that would heal her heart and restore her soul from broken on the inside to beautiful in the Lord.

About the Author:
Sheila Summers knows first-hand the power of negative words and the consequences of dangerous choices that can result from having 'a hole in her heart in the shape of her father.' Born in Edinburgh, Scotland and despite her own shyness, Summers had a passion for dance that won her a place at the coveted Scottish Theatre Ballet Company, a role in the movie classic 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brody' and winner of the title of Miss Edinburgh. Yet despite the accolades, Sheila grew up struggling to overcome her otherwise loving father's declaration that she was 'nothing but an idiot'. That wound contributed to her fall into relationships that left her isolated and ultimately a victim of abuse at the hands of an American Sailor she had come to America to marry hoping for a second chance at love.

In her own fight to survive, a faith she'd been searching for all through her life was rekindled and Sheila Summers discovered from her Heavenly Father, whom she calls Papa, that she was precious and worthy of so much more. After six years their break for freedom saved Sheila and her children from the torment of domestic abuse and her life long search for her Papa brought about their ultimate healing.

Today, Sheila Summers and her daughters make their home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she works in television production at CBN, the International Christian Ministry and Humanitarian Relief organization that reaches the lost and hurting in more than 200 countries around the world.
